AFTER THE PENANT
Chandler Ball Team Wins From
Davenport Without Trouble.
Stroud Takes Another From
Bristow.
Business is picking up with the
Chandler ball team and they are
now in a good position to win the
penant, especially if the present
record is kept up.
The game with Davenport last
Sunday was "easy money" for the
Maroons who had the game won
from the third inning when the
boys from the barbecue town went
into the air. From then on to the
last inning it was simply a question
of how many scores to the good.
However, the next game with Dav-
enport will not be so easy, as they
had played a hard game the day be-
fore and were tired out, especially
the pitchers. Their team is com-
posed of some of the best amature
ball players in the county and they
usually put up a mighty fast article
of ball. The team is also composed
of perfect gentlemen, from the man-
ager down to the water carrier and
the Chartdler boys were treated
royally. Following is the official
score: .

The Stroud team is scheduled to
play at Chandler next Sunday and
this game will be just about the
most hotly contested of any so far
this season. Manager Carlock, of
Stroud, gives it out that his "colts"
are out for the penant and are
bound to win it, the Chandler boys
claim they have a line-up that
simply can't be beat and feel confi-
dentoftakingthe "colts" into camp.
That "Official"' Ball Game.
Notwithstanding the fact that the
ground was coverered with water in
many places the city and county
officials, intent each upon taking the
scalp of the other, wended their
way to the ball grounds last Friday
afternoon ready to show the mem-
bers of the Chandler league team
just how all th£ fine points of
base ball should be played. The
game opened with the following
line-up:
County—Sheriff Martin, catcher;
Frank Martin, pitcher; Clerk Rea,
1st base; Dep. Buzzi, 2nd base;
Jailer Parker, 3rd base, Register of
Deeds Crouch, short stop; Dep.
Straughen, center field; Treas.
Elliott, right field; Frank Cadwala-
der, left field.
City—Louie Ritter, catcher; Clerk
Foster, pitcher; Aid. Hoyt, 1st
base; Mayor Gulick, 2nd base; City
Atty.*Decker, 3rd base; Aid. Comer,
short stop; Aid. Keegan, left field;
Ass't. Marshal Taylor, center field;
Chief Spencer, right field.
Seven innings were played and
the fun was fast and furious from
start to finish, resulting about 5:30
in a victory for the city bunch with
a score of 13 to 16.
right only he couldn't get his legs
together soon enough.
As a 1st baseman Aid. Hoyt is
there'with the goods, only he
balked on running into a mud hole j
after the ball.
J. Bart Foster and Vic Decker for j
the city gave a good exhibition of
how they played ball when they
were young. Both went through
the motions all right and both
roared at the umpire.
Dist. Clerk Norton, by his re-
fusal to play ball, is also subject to
a fine—to be collected by the um-,
pire.
Keegan, Taylor and Spencer cov-1
ered the outfield in fine* shape for
the city only they didn't seem j
to be able to connect with the ball
when it came their way.
Louie Ritter did the receiving act
for the city and was mighty glad
when the batter hit the ball.
Clerk Rea held down the firs: bag
for the COttnty just like a profes-1J
sional—only he wouldn't keep out j
.of the mud.
Dep. Buzzi and Treas. Elliott
slugged the ball to beat the band, j
and now both accuse the other of j
having played the game before. |
Buzzi's long suit was running bases,
he literally tore up the diamond.
Jailer Parker and Vic Crouch
chewed the rag with the umpire and j
even tried to buy him, both played
a brilliant game—when someone 1
else caught the ball.
Frank Cadwalader made a record
as a ball chaser and always wanted
to keep it whenever he got hold of
it.
County Attv. Foster and Judge
Wagoner, refused to play and are
hereby assessed the usual fine—
and trimmings.
This makes one game each for
these teams, the rubber is to be
played off as soon as the boys get
over their soreness. •
The umpire certainly got all that
j was coming to him.

\ our chief desire, as shown in
