W. D. Cobb, who was arrested at
Pawnee and lodged in jail here lav 4
week charged with disposing of mort-
gaged property, was taken to Wells-

One day last week a couple of
women went to a hotel in Stroud with
a baby which tho seemingly well at
supper time died before midnight.
The women have disappeared leaving
no clue by which they may lx> identi-/

Sheriff Tilghman and Charles Egbert
went to Stroud Wednesday to hold an
inquest. Dr. Marshall, assisted by a
local physician, will hold an autopsy
to ascertain if the child died by
poison The oUlcers think indications
of foul play are very strong.
John and J in Pideock, Joe Lewis
and lliee ' ames were arraigned in
probate court this week charged with
disturbing the peace. All plead guilty
and paid tines. Three other boys', i
Joe Baker. Win. Eagle and Ed Pritch-
ett were arrested at the same time
charged with carrying revolvers. Ba-
ker and Pritehett were fined each 25
and costs: the case against Eagle was
dismissed by the county attorney. It
seems that the boys attended a literary
meeting at Anvil school house and be-
came unruly, making such a disturb-
ance that the law was invoked to
restore quiet.

the first of the week to visit her mother
who is ill at the Barker house, under
