philadelphia, Pa., Mar. 9.—Four
persons were shot late tonight by
alleged strike breakers, who were
bent upon revenge because a fel-
low worker nad ben stoned by strike
sympathisers. The men took a car
from the barn in the Kensington
district, and riding wildly down
Frankfort avenue, hred at random
into the crowds on the street.
Policeman Bragg, who was stand-
ing on the sidewalk, received a bul-
let in his heimet about an inch
above his head.
Helen May, aged 14, was strucK
in the leg by a bullet. John Ma-
lonev, aged 18 years, and Michaei
Osborn, aged 24 years, were also ,
shot in the legs, and Frank Brom-
ley, aged ii years, received a bullet
in his foot. The wounded were re-
moved to the Frankfort hospital.
The shooting of inoffensive by-
standers worked the crowd up to a
high pitch of excitement, and as
other cars came down the street the
mob proceeded to wreck them, in
several instances leaving only the
trucks on the rails. About a dozen
arrests were made.

court of appeals today, handed down
an opinion affirming the sixteen yeai
sentence of Ran Wood, convicted oi
killing Jess Hugate in Roger Mills
county.
Justice Owen rendered an opinion
affirming the death sentence of John
Black, convicted of holding up and
killing one Stevens near Holdenville
Oklahoma. Biack wil hang at Hold-
enville April 15, one week after All
Hunter pays the death penalty at
Watonga.

side-walk specifications now effective
in this city, of such width as is pro-
vided by ordinances, and of sucn
material as is designated above, and
laid according to the establisheu
grade and established side-walk line,
shall be duilt anu constructed and
paid for <n tne following manner,
to-wit:
The Mayor and Council will ad-
vertise for bids for the doing of such
work and let a contract therefor,
and the cost of the same will be
taxed as a special assessment agalnsi
each separate lot and tract of lanu
along or in front of, etc., which said
assessment sh&li be payable in two
equal annual installments with inter-
est at the rate of eight per cent per
annum.
