We have not yet . heard
deny the charge as given by attorney
general Monett of Ohio in his annual
reports that Haskell offered him a
bribe of $500,000 to drop a case
against the Standard Oil company,
and worst of all. Haskell, the man
who would be governor of Oklahoma,
was to get $100,000 as a considera-
tion for fixing the deal. Pretty fel-
low isn't he to go after corporations
and to write a constitulon for the hon-
est voters of the new state.
and orphans, you surely have the
right to know that he is honest and
qualified—a man who is not the tool
of organized graft and greed; one
who pays his honest debts, one who
is above reproach, one whose sole aim
and ambition is to do his duty and
serve trie people and their interests
—one who will not use the office with
which the people have honored him
as a stepping stone for political am
bition, one who will not prostitute
his office for political prestige or per-
sonal gain.
I most candidly say the office ot
County Judge should be non-political,
and the man. be he Democrat or
a court of justice, and you want your
interests protected. When you pay
a man, you, therefore, as a tax-
payer, are vitally interested in the se-
lection of a County Judge, and I trust
that you will carefully investigate trie
matter and then cast your vote for
the man who is qualified to attend
to your interests and the interests ot
the community, and who will do it re-
gardless of political party or personal
friendship.
In my ambition to become Judge
of the County Court, I come most
humbly and offer myself as the ser-
vant of the people; I know no boss;
I acknowledge no leader; I pay tribute
to no dictator, except the good people
whom I desire to serve. If elected,
as I hope to be I most solemny prom-
ise to do my duty, my whole duty,
and nothing but my duty, regardless ————
of politics, persons or party, and I 18 CRUCE REALLY
