Tlio republicans of the tourtli
Kalians district have renominated
Miller for congress and iidojiled
resolutions suggest intf that lie join
the insurgents and vote for Mate-
hood . We thank them.
The El Reno Democrat recently
installed a new Meihle pre** and
celebrated it by getting flit an il
lustrated edition. Among the
prominent yien of the county we
notice the face of L. A. Chambers.
If President Roosevelt will wield
the "big stick" just as vigorously
now as he did his big jaw when he
was in Oklahoma last fall, we will
get statehood. The administra-
tion forces will respect bis wishes
in the matter. It is up to Teddy.
Guthrie's effort to deprive the
people of Oklahoma of the right
to vote on the location of the state
capital lias not won her any friends,
and all who believe in fair play re-
joice in her discomfiture. While
we admire Guthrie's push and
nerve In this matter we censure
her for charging that those who
opposed her were blocking state-
hood.
The entomologist of tho experi-
ment station his visited fields
where the cut worms are at work,
and recommends spraying a strip
of the wheat, just ahead of the
worms with Paris green at the
rate of one pound to 100 gallons
uf water. The spraying should be
done while t he worms are feeding
on the wheat and of course, no
stock should be allowed to pasture
tin the sprayed wheat.
Yukon formally enters the lit-t
«.f contestants for the state capital
of the magnificent new state of
Oklahoma. You laugh and say
she is getting pretentious, but why
not Yukon? She lias natural ad-
vantages equal to any and su-
perior to many of the aspirants
i'or that honor. We niny name:
She is a white man's town.
She is located mid way between
Oklahoma City and Kl Reno, two
aspirants for the state capital, and
the combined railroad advantages
of both are at the disposal of
Yukon. She is the best of the
country towns in Oklahoma. Her
business men are wideawake and
pushers.
She has the largest retail mer-
chants of any country town tn the
territory, and she competes suc-
cessfully with El Reno on the
west and Oklahoma city on the
east for tho retail trade.
Her banking facilities are lirst-
class and as Rolid as the rock of
Gibraltar.
Her flour mill lias shipped out
over one thousand carloads of mill
stuff for the year euding March 1.
In addition there has been the
gruin shipped by three other ele
vators aud the livestock and pro-
duce shipments
fShe is a country town, but she
does business on a metropolitan
scale.
Her schools, churches and hotels
can expand to meet any require-
ment.
