UNCLE RASTUS.
Made a Visit to Inkville.
I wah down in Inkville last week,
an on account ob my extinguished
'yierance was treated wiv orsiderable
pretenshuness. I wah introduced all
round to the bit: (runs. In this towu
dah is but few people 'cept tny own
race and dat am de reason it am
called Inkville and why I wah treated
wif sich obstincehun.
De city am not run 'zactly like dis
town. You fee dc pcepledoan habaz
much f rlvileprf dah as dey do in dis
town, dat ifc on the sidewalks, but de
police and boxes and plows and stoves
and waggins hah moah privileges.
Da also liab mennv places ob 'muse
ments. De 'oarMs and plows
and barb wire occupy de sidewalks
at all times of de day and nite and
none dar molest 'em nor make 'em
'fraid. De police am specially
chawged wif the keer and custody
ob dese articles ob commerce an to
see dat dey is kept in passisshun on
de sidewalks. Ef a box or plow stag
gah3 obah in de way ob a passah by
and pets knocked off de sidewalk de
police wood all run an pick up de
awticle of commerce dat had got
knocked off an wood pity it and put
it back on de sidewalk and take on
obali it wuss dan if it wuz a child wif
a broke leg and den wood 'rest de
man who knocked it off by accident
fur drunkeness and assault and bat
terv an take him to de lockup to
patch up de cuts and bruises he had
got in de fray wif de bawbed wire
plow and sich like on de sidewalk
Three fellahs wah brot in and put
undah bond foah disputin de rite «b
way wif ium ob de commodities
while I wuz bein intodoced to de po-
lice coat. De police coat wah hired
by de men who owned dese contra
band ob street wain and paid de sal
aries and de city jest sancshun it like
but doan pay de police enny wages
So de hawdware on de sidewalk am
de peeple an must be respected. Ef
too much obit gets dar to pamit de
peeple to pass wifout tareing dey
britches and dresses den dc people
must take to de middle ob de street
an leave the sidewalks to commerce
an de nite watches.
I also went into de saloon and
sportin houses an I tell jou da do
run tings dah. Da shoot craps, play
stud hoss pokah an all hands up and
circle to de left frum one day's end
to annuddah day's end. Most city
offiisbals 'tend de carnivals. It am a
big gab show den a Mexican bull fight.
Craps am played wif dice. Da call de
dice "'de bones." Foah instance a
big gun cums an says "Gimme de
bones." Den he snaps his fingahs an
says: "Cum seben or eleben," "Joda
pick dc cotton," "Big Liz frum Bal-
timoah," "Baby must hab dem new
shoes," "Fevah in de Souf," "Broad
Horn," ',Seesick on de oshan,', "Up
jump de debble," den he lose. Den
he tries to borry a taw frum sumbod-
dy else but find da all is busted, so da
takes a drink on dehouse an den de
police am sent out to raise a 6take by
arrestin sumbuddy who hab cum in
contact wif de bar'l an boxes on de
sidewalk. Ef dey see enybuddy set-
tin on a box or a bar'l he am at once
pulled befoah de police coat. Heah
dey fix tings. All want to hab his
•^poon into de dish.
Da begins to onspute who made de
arrest and who should be witnesses
and who shod be offlshals and sich
like. Sum times da git da star on a
country fellah an jinerally get tings
mixed. Da finally file as tnenny
ebawges agin a fellah as dah am fel-
lahs who claim to hab ,tisipated in
de arrest an den each one kin get his
pay fur efforts to inforce de law ob
de realm. Derestobde crawd am
speened to coat as witnesses an dah
swoan to testify well and truly to
what lie wants to know and things
pass off harmonishly. I tells you de
wey de law ain strickly enfoaced in
dat town makes de hardware on de
f'.dew alks jingle fur joy.

A Lie Nailed.
We are informed that Majab Clout
Piri Moore, late of Pierce City, Mis-
souri, has circulated the story around
the saloon atmosphere of this city,
that he went security for this editor
one night last week. We wish to say
right now that we know and can prove
that Majah Clout Pin Moore is one of
the most deadly as well as the most
cowardly enemies we have in this
county and that he would rather see
us burning in sheol than anywhere
else. He did not go any security for
us that would cost him a dollar; he
lies. This was only a cold blooded
part played in the attempt to wound
the pride of this writer.
Wearysome.
It is now understood that the old
jink metal gang now runninp the
city affairs will not', be in it next
spring. The people are getting aw
ful tired and they will still be more
weary when the Wave tells all
knows. The gang should be run into
the quay with Major Clout Pin Moore
and Col. Moore.
