Estimated at 19 points below the

ton t i op was placed at 48 per cent
of normal by the report issued Fri-
day by H. H. Shultz, federal statis-

hoard of agriculture. The report
covers the month of August.
The cotton crop for the state is
now estimated in the report at 474,-

bales last year. The month from
July 25 to August 26, shows a de-
cline in condition of 29 per cent.
According to the report, many sec-
tions will require from ten to twenty-
five acres to make a bale and in some
extreme cases, fifty acres will be re-
quired to produce a bale.
Outside the late corn which has
suffered in most sections of the state
from dry weather, the corn crop, ac-
cording to the report, is far above the
ten-year average. Broom corn held
its own through the dry weather and
was placed at three points above the
ten-year average. Prices, according
to the report, show that broom corn

for the best grade and $50-to $65 for
