Easter Services.
On Sunday evening next there
will be a very interesting and ap-
propriate program carried out at
the Methodist church. The ladies
of this church have been pains-
taking in arranging for this occa-
sion and indications are that a
large crowd will attend. There
are many features in their program
that are worthy of mention two of
which are the tableaux at the close.
Every body invited.
Excursionists Locked in.
Last Tuesday morning a car of
Mexico excursionists were picked
up at this place by the early morn-
ing train, and at various points
the car was locked to prevent local
passengers from crowding the car.
Upon arriving at Oklahoma City
a man grabed the door of the above
named car and insisted on being
admitted until Frank Filson ap-
peared on the scene and informed
the gentleman that that car was
loaded with crazy people from
Oklahoma to be carried to Kansas.
After observing closely the intru-
der remarked, "They sure look it,
show me another car.''

The Candidate's Wifes Views.
A man in Franklin county had
about made up his mind to be-
come a candidate for clerk of the
district court, and was talking to
his wife about it. "See here
John," she replied. "I've lived
with you about fifte< n yer and
have had a fair opinion of you,and
I don't want it all spoiled now. I
don't want to learn that you were
in penitentiary several years for
burglary; I don't want to hear
how you nearty beat your father
to death and swindled him out of
his poperty. If you come near
being hanged for stealing horses
in Indian Territory and had to
leave Iowa for murder, I don't
care to liava it all threshed over
at this day. You can run for
clerk of the court if you choose,
and if elected the first case you
will have on the docket will be
Mary vs John, suit for divorce;
grounds, the plaintiff has three
living wives and is an escaped
convict. And'by that time I can
prove it, John."

He is a young man with a clean
record and lias every qualification

democracy is unquestioned. It is
hardly likely that Mr. Alexander
will have any opposition for nom-
ination.

L. B. Durkee.
The announcment of L. B. Dur
kee for the democratic nomination
for county treasure appears in this
issue. Mr. Durkee came to Okla-
homa in June, 1889, and took up
a claim on Little River east of
Norman. He was the second coun
ty treasurer elected in Cleveland
county and served from January 1
1893 to January 1 1895.
—Mr. Durkee has been postmas-
ter at Denver and conducted a
store until recently. He stands
very high among his neighbors
and friends as an honorable and
an upright man. The democrats
of Cleveland county should con-
sider well the candidacy of L. B.
Durkee when they vote on June 9
We believe should Mr. Durkee be
nominated that he will be elected
by a big majoity.
