Prof. Sauford's Orchestra, **f
thin city, consisting of ten pieces,
will give a musical entertainment
in Kingfisher, Tuesday evening.
May 22nd, 1894. It should l e well
attended by the Kingfisher people,
a* Mr. San ford in, without excep-
tion, the best musician in the ter-
ritory-
Joe J. Crider, formerly o€ Hen-
nessey, but now ©f Woodward, was
in this city Tuesday looking for a
location to start a jewelry store,

the future out-looKol Alva surround-
ing conutry, and will move here as
soon as he gets Iiih alTairs settled up

The speech of BrccKenridge,
delivered at the Lexington, Ky.,
Opera honse l st Saturday was the
grandest effort of his life. Three
thousand people cheered liini to the
echo. lie didn't tell of the tact-
man who heard him scream ♦ when
M adge seduced hi in or of giving
lier the ten dollar hill to leave hlmi
alone.
Dade Kyle, who was elected
alderman of the tirst ward, is only
2'\ years of ago, and is the youngest
councilman in Oklahoma. Dade is
a democrat but he palled the entire
colored vote in his ward. He is
hustler from the word go aud will
will work hard and faithful for the
interests of Hennessey and the in-
terests of the "bloody first."
Sam Withers, of Enid, owner of
the petrified (?) man, was in our
city Saturday. Sam informs us
that he has bought a half interest iu
a one eyed colt, that was born
near Oklahoma City. Some few
days ago the colt died on Sam's
hands and he has now sent it to St.
Louis to a Taxiderimst where the
animal will be prepared for exhibi-
tion. lie expects to make his first
show at Hernessey.
Clement/. R. Kooutz, son-in-law

accident last Thursday which might
have been more serious, lie drove
his team into a small stream not
knowing how deep it was, t > go to
a neighbors oil an errand, had his
little son with linn two years old.
When the horses reached the current
they were immediately washed down

Clem seized lii-< child and threw him
out to the l>auk where Minnie
eaught him by the arm and saved
the child. In au instant the wagon
was tinned over throwing Cle

all they could do the team drowned.
Last week's issue of the I)kmo-
<'rat was one year from the time
we purehasen the Review and chang-
ed it into a Democratic paper.
The success ot the Dkmocrat has
made it gratifying, and while we
liave worked to make a good read-
able paper we wish to thank our
friends and patrons for their sup-
port and encouragement. Our sub-
scription list has made a very rapid
increase for that short time, and we
can give our advertisers the full
worth of their money, as a circulat-
ing medium, when advertisement!*
are placed with us. We also solicit
new subscribers and will send sain-
nle connies to anv one sending us
their addresses. We will give to
old subscribers, as well as new, for
cash subscription in advance the
Dkmochat and Oklahoma Farmer
forfU, or the Dkmociiat and Kan-
sas City Twice-a-weeu Times for
$1.50. The payment of delinquent
subscriptions will be thankfully
received.
How to do it.
The following excellent (?) rules
a town can be dauined in short
order:
Buy from beddlera as much and
as often as possible.
Denounce your merchant because
he makes a profit on his goods.
Make out that your town is very
bad and stab it every chance you
get. It will make vour property
less valuable, but then you don't
care for that.
Keep up divided sentiment on
the best method of increasing busi
ness.
Glory in the dowufall of a man
who has done much to help build
up the town.
Refuse to unite in any scheme
that will lie for tlio betterment of
the material interests of the people.
Complain of "ring" rulo because
you and your set cannot domiual
the affairs of the town.
Tell your merchant that you can
buy goods a great deal cheaj
other towns, and charge them with
exortion.
Jf a stranger com or to town tell
him that everything is overdone and
predict a general crash iu the near
future.
Patronize out side newspapers to
the exclusion to your own, then
-denounce them as not being as large
as city papers.
Whey you have anything to say
concerning your town, say it in such
a manner as to leave the impression
