And Carranza makes reference
to the dignity of Mexico. Well!
well! well! DIGNITY, what may
thy meaning be?
Is Cashion to have a ball team
this summer?
One loose tongued would-be
enthusiast can do more in a few
minutes to knock a good thing
into a cocked hat than a half doz
en good conscientious workers
can remedy in a fortnight.
If its good for the town and
community, let's push it along.
Twelve thousand troops are
now ready, if not already crossed
into Old Mexico to chase Villa
and his bandits Very few peo-
ple, but what think this is the
proper thing to and the only way
to protect American citizens who
live along the border and who
are attending to their own busi-
ness on their own native soil. It
is too bad that a£tion of this kind
was not taken long before this,
as it was plain to see that Carran-
za was not able to cope with the
situation, and if conditions are
ever to be bettered in that land
of anarchy some one will have to
take a hand in it and the United
States is the country that is feel
ing the effects of the trouble
down there more than any other
nation, therefore, it seems to be
up to them to take a band and
put the lid on south of the Rio
Grande.
Have you been out to any of
the Farmer's and Business Men s
Association meetings? If not
you should do so, for you are
surely interested in the welfare
of your town and community,
' and if you do not feel like jump
ing in and taking a hand in the
work your presence will inspire
the other fellow, and it will only
take a few minutes of your time
once or twice a month to meet
with us. Just try it once or
twice and see if you don't like
our meetings. We are bound to
succeed in getting some good
things thru for the betterment of
conditions here, and you know
you would like to see your com
munity improved.
The Independent plant has in
stalled a new gasoline engine.
Our old engine seemed to have
grown tired from the hard work
of past years, and tried our pat
ience sorely. When we wanted
it to run it was seldom ready to
go, and we could not always ex
press our feelings on such occas
ions, as there were ladies in the
office sometimes. To make a
long story short we decided on a
new engine and have it installed
now.
One day is spring, the next is
summer, and the next is winter.
The weatherman must be away :
from home and left the boys in
charge.
On another page in this issue
is a call by the town board to the
citizens of this town to clean up
their grounds. The town board
is going to meet you half way in
this clean up campaign, by haul
ing off all rubbish free of charge
to you. Lets get in harmony
with the board and show them
that we are all good fellows and
have our rubbish all piled up
ready for the dray when it comes
along. In so doing you will cut
your fire ris< in half, your prop
erty will look better, you will
feel better, and when the repres-
entatives of the State Board of
Health happens to make a visit
to Cashion you will not be afraid
to meet him, and he will not be
required to post any clean up
notices.
A new line of pictures will be
shown in Rector's hall Saturday
night.
