OBITUARY
Sarah Ann Porter was born in
Richland County, Ohio in 1843
and died February, 12th 1916,
age 79 years, 4 months and 12
days.
She joired the Presbyterian
church in early childhood and
when the Parker Congregational
church was organized in early
days, she was one of the charter
members She was always inte
rested in Sunday School work
and taught the Primary ciass a9
long as she was able to attend.
At the age of 5 years, she
moved with her parents to Illi-
nois and at the age of thirty-six
was married to W. K. Love joy
who died in February 1876. Two
children were born to this union,
Margaret Elizabeth who died in
infancy and Lucy Ellen
In 1890 she moved to Kansas
and was married to J. B. Porter
and later moved to Oklahoma
where she resided until her death
Sh1 is survived by three broth-
ers, one daughter and a s'epson
who r(sides at Sin Diego, Cal.

Mr. Porter died on March, 10,
1914.
Funeral services were held at
the hime of Mr and Mrs. C. W.

ing the illness and death of our
beloved mother and sister.

VALENTINE PARTY
The Valentine pirty given at
the home of Dr. and Mrs. Dixon
was one long to be remembered
by the young people of Kiel. It
was well attended and enjoyed
by the thirty youn/ people pres-
ent. Progressive Rook was play-
ed and several people claim the
honorof championship, also other
games were played.
Refreshments were served con-
sisting of cake and chocolate and
the guests depa't?d about mid-
night.
The photographer was present
and took a flash light picture of
the happy crowd.

VALENTINE SOCIAL
Rev. and Mrs Holmes gave a
Valentine Social to the young folk
and friends of the church at the
Parsonage. The home was dec
orated to suit the occasion.

by Misses Dolores Wier, Ruth
Herod and Grace Jordan.
One of the most interesting
features of the evening was the
Bow and Arrow con'e^t and oth-
er contets. A plate dinner wt.s
served consisting of jelly nut
sindwiche*, fruit salad, wafers
andc.coa to abcuf fit'tv guests
and all expressed themselves as
having a very delightful time.
The photographer was present
and totk a flash light picture.
PIE SUPPER
A scV ool program will be given
at the Kiel school house, Satur-
day, February 26th followed by
a pie supper. Every body come
brinar a pie.

G. I. Matthews traded his De-
troiter to Mrs. A. J. Francis of
Hoyt, Kansas for their 80 acre
farm, located 3 miles west and 5
south of Kiel and paying some
cash in in the trade. G. I. says
he is going to start a duck farm.
We suggest that he keep Dr. Ca-
vett and some more of our people
off the farm if he intends to get
any meat for home use.

The Missionary program rend-
ered by the Y. P- S. C. E. at the
M- E. church, Sunday evening
was well attended and appre-
ciated. The Endeavor put on a
good program, being instructive
as well as interesting. After
the program Rev. Holmes gave a
thirty-minute sermon. His text
was found in Luke 16: 25—Sub-
ject, "Son Remember." It was a
very strong sermon, showing us
how and why memory is immort-
al etc.

Mrs. A. J. Francis and eon,
Eddie of Hoyt, Kansas spent
several days visiting Mr. and
Mrs. E. A. Nelson. They arriv-
ed Thursday of last week.
