- "An Army Doctor Looks at Life on Frontier", Tulsa-Sunday World, March 17, 1968, by Mary E. Good. Story of life at Fort Arbuckle, founded by Capt. Randolph Marcy, as written in the diary of Dr. R. A. Gilsan. Dr. Gilsan was assigned to the fort in 1850, coming from Ft. Smith by was of Ft. Washita. He describes the area and general life at the fort, encounters with Indians, "Black Beaver" a Delaware guide and location of Camp Arbuckle, used before the move to area on Wild Horse Creek and permanent buildings.
