Description: Reverend Augustus C. Roker served in the Episcopal Missionary District of Oklahoma from 1910 - 1932. He was the longest serving Black Episcopal priest in the Missionary District. Dean Roker moved to Oklahoma due to Bishop Brooke's desire to create a Black Episcopal mission in Muskogee. The mission, St. Philip's, had no land or building but Roker was not deterred. The draw was sloped and sodded in 1938 and now provides grazing at the rate of 1 unit per acre and serves as an outlet channel for 70 acres of terraced and cultivated land. Mr. Fred Bunch states that this pasture strip furnishes better grazing than any of his 28 acres of native pasture on this 160 acre farm.
