It is now a!moat u universally
conceded fact that Fn*man E.
Miller ia the heat known and
worst loved man within the broad
confines of Payne County. He
knowa no God hut greed, recogniz-
es no principle above pelf, and
when he commences an oatenaihle
pious harangue about “good” gov-
ernment in this oounty, territory
and nation with hla water-mock-
aain eyes turned toward heaven,
and a camp-meeting look on his
cadaverous face, every one begins
to look for the cloven foot beneath
the uaaumed robes of aancity, and
to watch out for “deep and dam-
nable” plots to injure some one,
and himself to profit thereby. The
people have never yet been fooled
long at a time by Miller, and they
watch him as they would u would
« wolf in their sheep fold.
It is but recently he haa com-
menced a foul and underhandec
crusade against a number of Still-
water a best citizens and especial
ly aguinst W. B. Wilburns, who
soeniB to come in for a greater
portion of the calumny from this
splenic hearted Cretan. And why?
Me may ask. The reasons are
quite evident; if we but look be-
neath the surface.
Miller’s unoontrolable desire to
round in the dollars, has created
within him a grafting propensity
which has become to himasecond
if not a first nature, and there-
fore he is ever on the alert for
somewhere to get in his clammy
■and foul hands todeapoil the poor
and the rich alike. He looked
'over the field and thought it would
be a nice thing to place in the
County Atorney s office of Payne
County, a man whom he could
'control absolutely and by ao do-
he could help prosecute every man
Who was so unfortunate ns to be

every criminal and his man Fri-
day to prosecute, who we ask
you, could be convicted? No one
who could raise the price of de-
defense(?). And with Miller in
-charge of the machinery, who
would be free from trunip|>ed up
charges surreptitiously brought
before the grand jury by his man
Friday? While he himself kept
.fcately in the back ground read^
to defend the case in court for
price.
