Terrell Texas Tuesday evening
and will visit with Mr and Mrs

Refreshments were served and a
very pleasant afternoon was passed
W W Strong is working in
the Central Barber Shop this
week while Dick Dark one of
the proprietors is attending a
reunion of the Dark family at
his father’s home near Comanche
Hon Scott Ferris is recover
ing slowly from a severe attack
of typhoid fever-1 He will: not
be able to take part in the cam
paign and will do well to regain
his strength by the time Con
gress opens

attending the army maneuvers

iting relatives and frends
A host of people are planing
to attend the carnival at Co-
manche the 20 21 and 22 Wal
ters and vicinity willbe almost
depopulated fluring those three
days Comanche always gives
Walters a good crowd and we
going to return the compliment

and have a good time
J W Harmon received a letter
the first of the week from his
brother Joseph of Enfield 111 which
contained the news that corn was
selling at that place for 75 cents
per bushel and the prospects for
the present season indicates only
about half a crop It is just possi-
ble that Oklahoma will supply the
cattle feeders of Illinois with corn
this winter
Miss Mary Pollrise of Okla-
homa City recently accepted a
position with the Commercial
Hotel and has charge of the
cooking department She is
one of the best cooks in the
state and the Commercial Hotel
is to be congratulated for secur-
ing the services of Miss Pollrise
Generally a cook of her ability
perfers city work but Mr
Thetssen is willing to pay a
good price and thus secure the
services of competent help for
his hotel They have one of the
best kept kitchens and dining
rooms in the state
