of Pawnee and lion. John Knright on
betinlf 'if .N'oble county, in It is usual
pleasing eloijuent und able manner of K.
II. IVrry. of Ihe city of Perry. Iluilot
ing then commenced, but ufter the
fourth ballot had been taken and there
waa undiBputable evidence thnt the
bitterness upm the part of ti e
Pawnee factions towurd their own cand-
idate could not be (juel'erl and harmony
realored, the Noble uounty deleKatis
turned utmost solidly for Mr. Perry and
on the llfth ballot, lion, B. S. McGuire
moved lo uiuke the vote uunniuious for
the Noble cunty candidate, which
motion prevailed. This settled all dif-
ferences und Ihe best of feeling was re-
stored on all Hides und the whole Re-

stand solidly for the nominee. It is but
u most desei ving commeudul ion lo say
of them, thnt tlio friends of Hon. U. S',
McGuire and Cupt. F. M. Thompson
supported them loyally to the lust show-
ing the high esteem in whioh theFe
gentlemeu are held at tile r homes und
in their county,
llou. B. S. Mctiuire, tu uddressiug the
convention after its choice had been
made, proved himself to be one of na-

votion to party, showing his graudnes.
of manhood, iu saj ing that he heart-
ily endorsed the nomination and cheer-
fully submitted to the choice uf the cun
venti"n, and asked all his friends aud
suppoiters to/jiu him in limiting the
gentleman nominated out u -xt cuuncil-

Cupt. Ihompsou ulso addressed the
convention in u pleasiug ten minutes
talk, suying tbut he had no sore spots,
and was ready to enter Ihe catupuigu in
hearty support uf the nominee of the
of tbe convention. No gentlemen were
ever more chivalrous, courteous and
generous than they, which made them
many warm friends uiumg' thosj who
were opposed to them in tbe conven-

The chair appointed Hon B. S. Mc
Guile and Capt. F. M. Thompson a coir-
