Norman Schwartzkopf, for instance. And then there's Brig. Gen. Marcelite Harris at Tinker Air Force Base. Harris may be on 5 feet, 3 1/2 inches, but when she gives orders, "I am 10 feet tall," she said, pointing to the star on the shoulder of hear uniform. "Listen, I have talked to 6-foot-5 guys and told them, "This is what I want," the 48-year-old Harris said. "I don't have to be big to be macho. A year ago this month, Harris became the first black female general in the Air Force. Since then, she has served as vice commander of the Oklahoma City Air Logisitics Center located at Tinker, and is the first black and first woman to have a command there. The center is one of five in the United States that maintain the Air Force's worldwide aerospace weapon systems. Harris helps oversee the maintenance of aircraft, aircraft engines, missiles and support equipment.
