Field Ready for Planting

Description: Photograph of a field ready for planting and trip crops. The even width strips are to be planted to corn and cotton, one strip planted to corn and the next to cotton. The variable width strips are now planted to a winter cover crop of wheat which will be plowed under and planted to sowed cane as a close growing erosion resistant crop.

Description: Photograph of fifteen UNIDENTIFED Idabel CCC workers using a rock crusher to grind limestone for fertilizer. The back of the photograph proclaims, "Rock crusher operated by the Idabel CCC camp grinding lime to be used as fertilizer on fields of Soil Conservation Service cooperators. The limestone at this place contains a percentage of moisture which permits its being ground without dust."

Description: Photograph of sheet and gully erosion caused by uncontrolled run-off on an unprotected cultivated field. The back of the photograph proclaims, "Sheet and gully erosion caused by uncontrolled run-off on unprotected cultivated field. Rows have been run across the slope in an attempt to prevent this drainage but runoff "jumped" the furrows causing cross-cutting. Contour cultivation and perhaps terraces will be required to control erosion here."
