Description: Photograph of a fence line contrast, C. W. Franks farm. The area on the right is being pastured by goats. All the vegetation has been removed, leaving the bare ground in contrast to the area on the left showing native grass which is about 12 inches tall. This picture was taken prior to the Soil Conservation Service initiating a program on Mr. Franks’ farm. OK-285-11.

Area selected for root harvest is free from weeds, excessive top growth, debris and rocks that would interfere with sodding operations. Tight soil is not too good for harvesting roots, as more work is needed to remove them from the soil. Chester Fry, Range Conservationist, is operating the equipment. OK-214-1.
