The water will be used to irrigate 400 acres. It has a drainage area of 22.5 sections. During the dryest years there has been enough run-off water to fill the lake three times. OK-363.

Description: Photograph of a UNIDENTFIED man drilling sideoats grama, blue grama, sand lovegrass, and switch grass into a failed sorghum field growing in conservation reserve of the soil bank. The back of the photograph proclaims, "Land in Conservation Reserve of the Soil Bank. ¼ section; 630 acres have been seeded. Drills owned by SCS district. Seven pounds of side oats [sic] and blue grama, one-pound sand love; ½ switch grass. Returning from cultivation for five years, sorghum did not make a crop so it was put in conservation reserve."

Description: Photograph of B. C. Bush, State Aid, discuss grass seeding on conservation reserve acreage with Sudan grass cover crop, with farmers Howard Warren and Clifford Hitchings. The photograph does not identify the left to right positions of Bush, Warren, and Hitchings. The back of the photograph proclaims, "B. C. Drills are two 9 hole and two 8 hole 12" spaced owned by Cimarron County SCD. The drills are hooked up on three drill hitches, which cover 34 feet each time through the field. Farmers are averaging 130 acres per day sided by a mixture of side oats [sic] grama, blue grama, and sand lovegrass. The field's soil is Dalhart-Mansker loam (7-B)."

Description: Photograph of bindweed. The control of bindweed with a 2-4-D herbicide (2,4-Dichlorophenoxyacetic acid) showing nearly a perfect kill. Only a few sprigs of bindweed are showing. Sprayed with 2-4-D at the rate of ½ pound per acre once in 1954 and once in 1955. Dorsay Sparkman is in this picture. OK-341-1.
