Gully Control

Description: Photograph of gully control by diverting wter, sloping banks and planting trees. This area was formerly a huge gully caused by unprotected diversion ditch. An area has been fenced out of pasture. Gully banks sloped, diversion terrace constructed and cottonwood and black locust trees planted. Erosion is 100% stabilized and trees show good growth. Gully Control by Fencing

Description: Photograph of gully control by fencing, sloping tree planting and protection from grazing in fall of 1937. Gully banks were sloped and trees planted. Trees have made some growth and other vegetation is becoming well established due to protection from grazing.
