Description: Photograph of Wilson DeGroot and wife packaging strawberries. Good soil management makes strawberries. Contour rows, fertilization and check-row cultivation has simplified labors. This "pick-em-yourself" four acre project grossed $1,600 in 1960. Over 2,000 people picked for home use according to DeGroot. This retired bricklayer says his hobby is interesting and profitable.

Combining Native Bluestem Grass

Description: Photograph of Houston Hicks, combining native grass from the Alva Tims farm. Rotation grazing and conservation ranching had permitted this grass to make an excellent seed crop in 1955. 58 pounds of good seed per acre, principally little bluestem and Indiangrass were harvested.

Terrace Outlet Follow Up

Description: Photograph of a follow up to photo 10-539A. Terrace outlet constructed in May 1950. 40' wide at top and 90' wide at bottom. 17 loads barnyard manure was plowed in. 450 bushels bermuda grass roots were spread on top and plowed in June, 1950. 6 weeks later the outlet was ready to carry.
