Wapanucka Academy

Description: Sunday Oklahoman, Oct. 31, 1971, by Kent Ruth. Short history of the school mentioning that the stonework was done by Charles Sparrow, which caused it to be called "Chickasaw Rock Academy" by some. This was a girls school until 1860, boys & girls school from 1868-90, boys only until 1911, and then closed. It was used as a Confederate hospital and military prison during the Civil War.
