Fort Washita

Description: Daughters of the American Revolution Magazine, Feb. 1966. "Fort Washita" by Bertha M. Antrim, pages 126-8. History of the fort, established in 1824, and abandoned July 1, 1870, is told in this article. Personal reminiscences of H. H. Harrill are included. Mr. Harrill last visited the fort in 1905. He also mentions crossing "Twelve Mile Prairie" to get there, picking up cannon balls and shrapnel & arrowheads, and a Mr. Marshall who owned a lot of land near the fort.
