Watershed, Flood Waters Sans Bois Creek

Description: Photograph of Cecil Presfield driving amphibious car returning Mrs. Jim Presfield home from work along with the Presfield children and neighbos Dan Condo's children home from school. During floods Sans Bois Creek overflows into the Grassy Lake area cutting off all access roads. They must use boat, amphicar, or horses to cross the 10 to 12 feet of water over the roads. Overfall is Small Pasture

Description: Photograph of of an overfall in s small pasture gully showing how the water tends to cut in soil unprotected by vegetation. This pasture is coverd with a good sod and the water running off is clear, almost free of silt. An inch of rain fell in half an hour just prior to the taking of this picture.

Water Falling Over a Large Pond Dam

Description: Photograph of water falling over a large pond dam. An adequate spillway was not provided for this dam and excess water must flow over the crest. The dam is cutting and will eventually be ruined. This picture was taken in the rain immediately after an inch of water had fallen in one half hour.

The water in the grass is running clear showing very little, if any, silt is being carried by this water coming from a good sod. Description: Photograph of a view of VII-25c-Oh land which was changed from a non-productive pasture to a lush pasture within 120 days. Brush was removed, pond constructed, and NK-37 Bermuda grass was seeded, fertilized and overseeded with Kobe longgrass. Floyd Ramsey, SCS aide and W.J. Description: Photograph of Blaine Bottom from Sansbois Creek Bridge 3.5 miles east and 4.5 miles north of Keota, Oklahoma. Flood waters 3 to 6 feet over the high land in the Arkanasas River Valley. Note: Only the tops of the buildings above the water in the background. The flood water was 3.7 feet above any previous record for the past 100 years. OK-4/2405.

Description: Photograph of rabbit traps made of logs. Hundreds of traps of this type were used last winter for commercial rabbit trapping.
