Description: Photograph of a group of people and tents. Handwritten description: Booth No. 9, Sept 1893, Arkansas City, Kansas. Kansas towns like Arkansas City were the staging area prior to the 1893 Land Run into the Cherokee Strip. The reference to "booth" is likely related to the nine booths that were erected, five on the Kansas border and four on the border of Oklahoma, where people were to register and receive certificates.
