Fort Washita Purchase

Description: Photograph used for a story in the Oklahoma Times newspaper. Caption: "Whether the Oklahoma Historical Society knows it or not, that $10,000 purchase price on the 115-acre Fort Washita site included Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Loper." Additional information: In 1962 the State of Oklahoma purchased the land and transferred it to the Oklahoma Historical Society, and restoration of the site began. Fort Washita was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1966 (NR 66000626).
