Description: Photograph used for a story in the Daily Oklahoman newspaper. Caption: "Off for Perry! This photo was taken Sept. 16, 1893, when the Cherokee Strip was opened for white settlers. It shows the loaded train and other vehicles waiting for the starting signal. The train went to Perry. This photo, submitted by Mrs. S. T. Franklin of OKC, was entered in an 'old picture' contest in the Daily Oklahoman in 1939. The photo was taken at the northern boundary of Oklahoma Territory by pioneer Guthrie photographer W. A. Flower."
