Fort Washita

Description: Photograph of the second graduating class of Bloomfield Academy, c. 1893. The man is Professor Elihu B. Hinshaw, superintendent of the academy. The seated woman is Cora Chisholm. The woman standing on the right is Alice Hearrell. Chisholm and Hearrell are holding their diplomas. The Bloomfield Academy was established in the Chickasaw Nation, Indian Territory, in 1852. It was located approximately three miles south of Achille, Oklahoma.
