Rescue workers were hampered briefly when "hot" lines carrying over 1,000 volts, were broken by the impact. Hospitalized for observation was Nola L. Schnackenberg, of 4105 Sterling drive. Mercy hospital attendants said the woman suffered possible internal injuries and lacerations when she was thrown from the vehicle. Police accident investigator L. A. Gramling estimated the Schnackenberg car was traveling over 50 miles per hour when it skidded 300 feet out of control and smacked into the pole. Then impact uprooted the heavy pole and dropped broken hot wires into the street. Gramling charged the driver with reckless driving and no state drivers license."
