Description: Photograph used for a story in the Daily Oklahoman newspaper. Caption: "Forty minutes after the nationwide alert was sounded late Wednesday afternoon, Oklahoma's first "Minuteman of the Air" was patrolling Oklahoma City skies with fully loaded machineguns. Twenty minutes later, other armed jets of the 137th Fighter Bomber wing were roving dust-filled skies over the city, Tulsa and Wichita, Kan....First man to answer the 20th-century call to duty was Col. Edward G. Johnson, the wing commander. Not too far behind him was Cpt. John W. Anderson who had recieved the word at his home, 3812 NW 18...Making a hasty check of the plane's exterior, Anderson and Sgt. Harold L. Padgett armed the plane's machineguns...The jet turbine began whining. In a minute it was roaring full blast."
