Mixture planted April 19, 1955. fertilization with 100 lbs. 10-20-10 and 200 lbs. 0-20-0. Mowed June 10, 1955-15 bales hay per acre. Potato Hill, 6d, drouthy soil. This is an introductory planting of weeping lovegrass in this area. Looks promising.

Description: Photograph of area which used to be covered with sage like area shown in Okila. 10, 753. Olson(left) and SCS Tech. E. S. Cordell check up on grass growth. Olson sprayed sage once with 2, 4-D four years ago, withheld grazing for year, then grazed lightly for year and has grazed moderately since. Little & big bluestem, indian, swithc, blue and sideoats grama. Texas and Prairie blue and sand paspalum came back naturally; no reseeding. and range site in excellent condition.

Inundation Studies

Description: Photograph of a closeup of buffalograss (in front of sign) in impoundment basin number four at a depth of 1.0 foot following two floodings of 10 days during early spring (3/22-4/1/62) and mid-spring (5/3-13/62). There was no apparent damage to the grass at this depth. For view of this grass when flooded for the same duration at a depth of 1.0 foot, see Ok-1760-9 dated 6/8/62. This research is under the suervision of Edd D. Rhoades, Agricultural Engineer, ARS-swc.

Description: Photograph of a closeup of buffalograss (in front of sign) in impoundment basin number four at a depth of 5.0 feet following two floodings of 10 days during early spring (3/22-4/1/62) and mid-spring (5/3-13/62). There was a severe suppression of growth with approximately 25 percent of the top growth killed. This grass had recovered very well at the date of this photograph.
