Description: Photograph of a seven acre plot of land cleared with a bulldozer (John Holland) in June 1955, trees deposited in a windrow and offset by heavy disc plowing, 7500 pounds used to cut up underground roots into 12 to 14 inch segments. Depth of cut is approximately 12 inches. OK-97-8.

Description: Photograph of brush control by chemicals. Where selective chemicals are properly used the land cover is not destroyed and erosion is controlled. Leaves, twigs and stems of Black-jack and other oak brush is sprayed with a mixture of 2,4-D and 2,4,5-T herbicide all accumulated in a mulch on the soil.
