Soil splashed was 21,824 lbs. per acre, detachability 27% of standard sand. Water retained on plot during 20 minute test was 0. 95 in. , 47% water lost 1. 07 in. , 55%.

Description: Photograph of Mr. and Mrs. Tolliver checking farm records in the neat kitchen of their farmstead. Tolliver bought a run-down 40 acre farm that used to scarcely produce 5 bushels of corn per acre. "It had gullies I couldn't cross with implements and the soil would produce practically nothing," Tooliver said. He terraced and contoured the 22 acres he cultivated, rotated his crops and use dhairy vetch for cover and soil improvement. Pasture cleared and mowed. OK-9479.

Description: Photograph of a channel-type terrace construction using 4 foot Fresno Scraper with a 3-mule team. The dirt from the third plowing of the channel has been moved into the ridge. Note in the completed terrace the broad flat channel and easy slopes on the ridge. Channel cross sectional area is 16.5 square feet and its effective height is 1.6 ft. OK-8344-N.
