Farming Equipment and Methods

Description: Photograph of a V-shaped cutting blade of a root plow which is drawn laterally through the soil 12 to 18 inches deep. This operation cuts stumps and roots and floats them to the surface with fins attached to the cutting blade, which prevents resprouting. OK-2524-16.

Land Clearance, Cultivation & Brush and Weed Control

Description: Photograph of a close-up of a typical section of range that has been cleared of blackjack timber and seeded to a mixture of native tall grasses in 1955. The brush on the land was aerial sprayed with 2-4-5T at the rate of 2 pounds per acre in May of 1958. This range has been controlled grazed to allow the grasses to become established. OK-624-3.
