STATE TRAFFIC TOLL 1971 to date 788, 1970 to date 794. 71 deaths under 21: 236, An Ardmore woman was killed Friday afternoon when her car collided with a Santa Fe Railroad engine in the city limits of Ardmore. Dead is ADALEE EMMA TUCKER, 63, Ardmore. Mrs. Tucker, a waitress at Lake Murray State Lodge, was pronounced dead on arrival at an Ardmore hospital. Ardmore police said her car drove in front of the northbound Santa Fe freight. B. A. Shawn, 46, Lone Grove, a witness to the accident, said the train was whistling when Mrs. Tucker's car drove onto the tracks, but it was only about 25 feet away. Mrs. Gale Tucker, the victim's daughter-in-law, said, "there are no signal lights, no blinkers or anything to warn that there is a train coming. There is hardly any way you can hear if you have the windows up."

Wallace Dean Blair, 21-year-old Pontotoc county rancher, was killed early Saturday morning when his car ran off SH 18, two miles north of Asher, hurtled 60 feet through the air and landed at the bottom of a 30-foot embankment. Highway patrolmen said Blair apparently had gone to sleep. His body was not discovered until seven hours later. The victim, a recent graduate of Oklahoma A&M college is the son of Lester Blair, former president of the Oklahoma Hereford Breeders association."

Caption: "Rampaging Auto Lands Driver in City Jail, This 1951 model automobile collided with another car early Wednesday at SW 26 and Walker, then jumped the curb, knocked down 30 feet of picket fence and crashes into brick building 108 feet from the intersection. The driver, Frank Eugene Settlemeyre, 24, of 7100 S. Shields, suffered only a minor cut on the face. He was treated at Mercy hospital and then jailed on a charge of reckless driving by drinking. Police said Settlemeyre's car collided with one driven by William Oliver McGill, 76, of 641 NE 12."
