Sequoyah

Description: Painting of Sequoyah, the inventor of the Cherokee syllabary. He was also known as George Guess or Gist. Charles Banks Wilson completed this life-size portrait of Sequoyah for the Oklahoma State Capitol rotunda in 1965.
