Description: Photograph of Elk City resevoir after a flood. It shows severe outting on backslope of dam. This dam overtopped its entire length before it broke. This picture gives an idea of the amount of water that was flowing over the dam before its break. This flood was caused by a six inch rain that fell in one night, three inches of which fell in 45 minutes. OK-5137.

Land Clearance, Cultivation & Brush and Weed Control

Description: Photograph of brush control by chemicals. Where selective chemicals are properly used the land cover is not destroyed and erosion is controlled. Leaves, twigs and stems of Black-jack and other oak brush is sprayed with a mixture of 2,4-D and 2,4,5-T herbicide all accumulated in a mulch on the soil.
