Description: Letter from Sister Mary Alphonsus, of St. Mary's Convent, Ardmore, Sept. 12, 1966. Information concerning Mother Mary Aloysius Longergan, one of the five pioneer Sisters of Mercy. Came to Indian Territory, from Lacon, Illinois, with Abbot Robot, O.S.B., Brother Dominic and a few Indian braves. They reached the Sacred Heart in July 12, 1884. Portrait painted of Mother Longergan by Mother Mary Bernard, early teacher at St. Mary's school.
