Caption: "Enid, Oklahoma's wheat capitol, is going all out to have the Enid airforce base made the West Point of the air" Talk in Washington points to the establishment of an air academy to rank along with the military academy at West Point and the naval academy at Annapolis. Above are two views of the Enid base, reactivated last August as a two-engine bomber school by the air training command. On February 25, the first class of 24 students officers and 49 cadets was graduated. At present 154 cadets are attending the school. They are getting advanced training in more than 100 B-25s that were brought out of storage and modified at Enid. Meanwhile Enid is lining up congressional support for the air academy against such cities as San Antonio; Texas, Sedalia, MO.; southern California; Wichita, Hutchsion, Salina, Arkansas City and Winefield, Kan.; Tuscon Ariz., and the Frederick-Altus area in Oklahoma."
