The impact knocked the signal loose and bent the post."

The bashed-in car is his. He was westbound on NW 25 about 8 a.m. Monday and was crossing N Douglas when another car hit him on the right. The impact knocked Edson's car over on its top, but he escaped serious injury. The other driver was Jerry Eugene Hughes, 17, of 1143 NW 58, according to accident investigator F.C. Daniels and W.A. Williams. Edson lives at 1405 NE 23. He was charged with having no driver's license, and Huges was charged with failure to yield the right of way."

Description: Photograph taken for a story in the Oklahoma City Times newspaper. Caption: "No serious injuries were reported after this bus loaded with school children overturned today. Nine Children Slightly Hurt School Bus Overturns A school bus carrying some 45 children overturned on the Broadway extension near NW 50 this morning, but none of the children was seriously injured. One child, Vanessa Golden, 9, was taken from the scene by ambulance to Mercy Hospital where she was treated and released. Eight others were sent to Baptist Hospital for checking after they arrived at the Quail Creek school nurses. A spokesman at Baptist said none of the children there appeared to be seriously injured. All were later released. The bus owned by School Bus Transportation Co., was carrying first through fourth grade children from the Dewey school attendance area to Quail Creek, where they are assigned for classes under the Finger plan. A spokesman said the children were picked up in the vicinity of NE 30 and Kelly. The bus operated by Sharon Short, 19-year-old Oklahoma City University student, was northbound on Broadway when the accident occurred. Police quoted a witness as saying the right rear tire on the bus blew out and the vehicle started swerving. It struck the center median."
