He turned 112 head of cattle on this 48 acres in December 1950, and left there until April 1, except during three weeks of severe weather in January. During that three months Martin says, the livestock had nothing else to eat, yet they fared better than cows that were on straight ladino and ryegrass and being given a couple of pounds of cake each day.
