Keystone Crossroads Historical Society
The Keystone Crossroads Historical Society (KCHS) was founded in 1975 to preserve the area’s local history that was impacted by the development of the Keystone Reservoir. Situated near the confluence of the Arkansas and Cimarron Rivers, and close to the border limits of Creek, Pawnee, and Osage Counties, the area is steeped in early territory and state history. Located in the “new” Mannford town site, the KCHS built the 3,663 square foot Mannford Museum to house, preserve, and share its collection of artifacts that range from Native American items to relics from the old towns of Mannford, Keystone, and Prue, which were inundated with water during the development of Keystone Dam.
Contributions
The KCHS partnered with the Oklahoma Department of Libraries and the Oklahoma Historical Society in 2022 to digitize its archival collections and make them available on the Gateway to Oklahoma History. Funding support for this collection was provided by the Oklahoma Historical Society and the Oklahoma Department of Libraries, with funding support from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
