Description: Photograph of airplane sprayed shinnery oak on A. L. Thurmond Ranch. The back of the photograph proclaims, "Airplane spraying of shinnery oak. This is a part of a 320 acre pasture sprayed first in 1954. Two-thirds of the same area was sprayed in 1955 and one-third sprayed in 1956. This work is supervised by Woodward Experiment station."

Basel Bark Treatment

Description: Photograph of Basel-bark application, using 2 3/4 gallon of low volatile 2-4-5, T ester (4 lbs. acid per gallon material used) in 100 gallon of diesel oil. The spray being applied so as to completely encircle and wet the point of runoff onto the soil the lower 12 in. of each plant. Equipment used was a John Bean powered sprayer. The brush and trees were blackjack, post and white oak, hickory, elm, persimmon and dogwood.
