W. P. Campbell Collection
About William Parker Campbell
W. P. Campbell is considered the father of the Oklahoma Historical Society, as the organization was formed under his direction in 1893. His service was characterized by collecting archives and objects, and these represent the earliest items in our collections.
About the Digital Collection
The Campbell Collection contains many portrait photographs of white men and of tribal members, as well as group portraits, and photographs of some early buildings and dwellings. The main tribes represented are Osage, Apache, Ponca, Arapaho, Cheyenne, Comanche, and others.
