adoption if the statehood reailutlon pass-
ed at the mass meeting held in Shawnee
Tuotday by the cmmlttee to whom It
was referred by the narrow margin or
on* vote, or 12 for and 11 against, was
not an losignifllflant thing. Tho reso-
lution passed Implores the house of con-
gress to concur in the senato amend-

parently decided not to do. The minority

Kiowa Indians Including chiefs Lone
Wolf and (iotebo are here for their
t nnual feast having just received
their regular payments from the Gov-
ernment. The merchants here donat-
ed several beef steers to the Indians
•who will camp here and by their sup-
plies.
Chief Gotebo for whom this town
•was named, was formerly a very bad
Indian but has been converted to a
christian and Is now a "heap good Je-
sus man" and preaches Christianity
to his people. Indian Klnzy says Go-

It. Rrecker arrested seven negro "boot-
leggers" yesterday who are now In the
federal Jail here. The men were In a
Missouri, Kansas and Texns box car
which they had boarded at Parsons.
They said they paid the brakeman a dol-
lar each to lock tho door and take them
to Muskogee. They had Ave gallon kegs
of whisky, one of wine and twenty gal-
lons of bottled goods. One of the men,
J. IT. Tolbert, confeesed. They will be
tried tomorrow before the rnit«<l States
commissioner. T. J. Farrar. All the liquor
was spilled In front of the courthouse,
despite the appeals of the bystanders.
