ARDMORE'Sf OIL FIELD.
Just now a very pertinent
question with us is, To whom
do the Arbuekle Oil Fields be-
long! Last week the Kingston
Messenger stepped over and
carried the field down to Kings-
ton, and again some Ardmore
representative came over Sun-
day and carried them over to
ARDMORE. Ardmore, also,
has the visitors comfortably
housed in the celebrated Caddo
Street hotels. Indeed Ardmore
has discovered that is centrally
located in between two great
oil fields, i. e. the Glenn Pool
and, south Texas fields and be-
sides the little burg already has
a lot of hot air and natural gas
and nerve and things with
pants on, but those wells while
not even branded with a Madill
imprint quit their kidnappers,
on their own hook, and located
themselves right where they be-
long, iu Madill territory, (we
saw them oursleves, Sunday)
and are staving there. But we
do owe so much to Ardmore for
Ardmore men are going t o,
sometime, with !>7 foot pipe,
they didn't really say whether
that long or that wide, but any-
way it will be a fine gaseous
well. But it's a measley shame
that the said burg has not the
Pennsylvania oil fields in her
vest pocket also.
Well we invite Ardmore peo-
yle to come over to the oil city
and we'll continue to shower
courtesies and favors on them,
and, ves we'll let them take a
few mi leases too.

HE KNOWS.
There are some people who
just won't like (lie local editor,
no matter what his religion,
polities or standing mav be.
They have made up their minds
that tliev an' not going to like
him and'that settles it. There
is another class (Lord pitv their
poor little shriveled up souls)
who have figured it out that the
printer is a low down sort of a
cuss and not lit for them to as-
sociate with, and as to visiting
the editor's family, tliev could-
for a moment think of such a
thing. Try as hard as you may,
we cannot ovescom^ these pre-
conceived notions of some peo-
ple. But we do know a few
things. We know who likes
us, and who don't; we know
who appreciates the work we
are trying to do, and who don't;
we know who encourages and
helps us, and who backbites
and throws stumbling blocks
in onr way; we know who char-
itably overlooks our short com-
ings, and who bitterly criticizes
us for them—in fact we know
Jots of things that we have nev-
d'r told, and perhaps never will,
jiiel we know some people who
ought to be mighty glad of it.

with the old time isolation that handicapped social
life in the country and drove poung people to the city
