before 10 o'clock a number of
shots were heard in rapid suc-
cession and the news was flash-
ed over the town that Dr. Adel
had been shot and perhaps fat-
ally wounded. He remained
•onscious a short while but
never made a statement. Par-
ticulars of the tradagy are hard
to learn. Mrs. Page waived ex-
amination and gave an appear-
ance bond.
Dr. Ader's relatives arrived
yesterday and returned with
the body to the old home in
North Carolina for interment.
