Is Carter a Republican?
,Is Carter a Republican? He iB
threatening. that the Indians will
go Republican if he is not elected
to Congress., He being most in-
terested, and an Indian, does he
not include himself in this threat?
Is Linebaugh a good De:: at?
He has fattened at the Republi-
can pie counter and supports the
Republican doctrine of exempt-
ing the classes from carrying
their part of the burdens of gov-
ernment. Like Carter, at this
late hour, he cries out, "I oan't
got any more than partial remov-
al.'' Will you take their inexper-
ience as an excuse for this fool-
ish dodging and elect either of
them to Congress?
I would not consider voting for
an Indian who did not, with his
announcement for office, pledge
his, as well as his families lands
for taxation.
I say down with those Demo-
crats who are Democrats for
office only. Have not these can-
didates pledged themselves to
the tax-dodgers of this district?
Look about you and see who
supports them strongest. There
you will sea the Inaian and
squawman in line. Will you line
up with them? Will you be bluff-
ed by Carter's Republican ghost
story?
I have traveled over this entire
district in a buggy in this cam-
paign and not an Indian have I
seen at work. The white man,
his wife and his daughters I have
seen in the fields working every
where. If I am elected I will pro
teot these wives and daughters
from work to pay taxes for these
idle landlords. I despise the cow-
ardly half removal sentiment
Don't forget the pioneer who
has pulled all the hills of the
past. A mountain now confronts
us. Will you harness a colt or a
bronco without a collar mark,
whose sires were never known to
work in preference to the old
stager, for this hard pull?
I am for a square deal. My
people have not had it. If I go to
Congress I will do my best for
you. If you come to Washington
Ao cards are necessary—just let
me know you are in town.
