President Murray Issues Call to Con-
stitutional Convention to
Meet on July 10.
Durant, I. T., June 25-—Wm.
H. Murray, president of the con-
stitutional convention, who was
in Durant today, issued the fol-
lowing call for the reconvening
of the constitutional convention
at Guthrie on July 10 for the espe-
cial purpose of changing the
election ordinanco.
To the members of the oonsti-
tuuonal convention of Oklahoma:
You are hereby notified that the
constitutional convention for the
proposed state of Oklahoma will
reconvene in the city of Guthrie,
the seat of government, on
Wednesday, the 10th day of
July, 1907, at 10 o'clock in the
morning, for the purpose of
making any proper changes in
the election ordinance and mak-
ing such other regulations as
will subserve and promote the in-
terests of statehood. You are
urged to be present promptly at
the reconvening of the conven-
tion.
A committee on election ordi-
nance composed of R, L. Wil-
liams, W. A. Ledbetter, S. W
Hayes, M. J. Kane, Henry S.
Johnston, D. S. Rose, Geo. A.
Henshaw, John B. Harrison and
John*!. Carney is hereby desig-
nated for the purpose of submit-
ting suggestions thereto, and
said committee is requested to
meet in the city of Guthrie on the
5th day of July, 1907, for said
purpose.
Wheraas, since the adjourn*
ment of the convention criticis n
of the legislative apportionment
haa been made through the re-
publican press, and
Whereas, the republicans dfd
not pressnt any requests, facts
or statistics at the making of said
districts, and the democratic ma-
jority at all times being desirous
of making a fair apportionment
upon the population of the state,
and correct errors, if any were
made; therefore,
As president of the constitu-
tional convention, I hereby con-
stitute and appoint a committee
to take testimony upon legislative
apportionment, to consist of
Flowers Nelson, Charles Moore,
Roy Allen, J. F. King, J. M.
Sandlin, Henry E. Asp and J.
H N . Cobb, to meet in the city
of Guthrie on the5th day of July,
1907, and to take the testimony
which may be submitted by any
and all persons between said date
and the reconvening of the con-
vention as afores"id, and the
Hon. B. P Hopkins, minority
leader of the convention, the
chai man oi the republican
state committee, ar.d all republi-
cans and other persons of the
state are hereby requested to ap-
pear before said committee and
to s ibmit*testimony, facts and
statistics to diaprov- the fairness
of the apportionment made by
the con\ention, with a view of
correcting errors, if any are
found in said legislative appor-
tionment.
